On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Day after Christmas

I wish I could take credit for this photo, but it was actually my son who snapped it when he was in San Francisco on Thanksgiving weekend.  He lives in Honolulu so I don't see him often and this minute he is on a junket in the Philippines.  The guy gets around, as the crow flies, so to speak.

It's all about rain here in northern California -- rain part of each day for a two-week stint.. something like that.  It's pouring now.

The week between Christmas and New Year's is always my favorite one of the year. Nothing much is happening -- I like it that way -- and several of my usual activities are "shut down" until January 3rd. Our county library system is on furlough - the budget, you know - so Demi the Library Dog has the time off (and so do I). There's no watercolor class because it is sponsored by our community college and they are on winter break. The church book group I facilitate isn't even meeting because we just finished one book and I decreed time off until after January 1st because, well, because I wanted the time off! Almost all of my clients will be coming in so I will be working, but the schedule is looser than usual. Yes!

The good news is that my new planner begins tomorrow so I've moved into it and plan to make it my right hand guy. I would be so much more organized if I wrote more in my planner - not only appointments, but to-do lists and shopping lists for when I'm out and about and even what-I-did lists because they are motivating in and of themselves. (Why stop with a short done list if you can keep working and construct a long one??) My favorite day of my favorite week is New-Planner day. I don't know why it's not a  holiday....
