On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Housefinch central

I was shockingly unproductive today! Tuesday was an infusion day (not true chemotherapy at this point, but an intravenous infusion) and I came home more tired than usual. Yesterday was my busiest day of the week because I was facilitating three groups and attended one meeting. Guess what - this morning I slept very, very late and only worked one hour!

After a steady supply of two eggs every day, this morning there was only one and it wasn't in a nesting box. I had to crawl behind the coop to a tight (very tight) corner of the chicken pen and pick it up from a pile of poop. Maybe I don't want to be a chicken farmer after all!

In the meantime, I cooled my jets by contemplating the many, many finches that came to visit my office feeder this morning. The weather is shifting again, more rain is forecasted, and the birds are very active and stuffing their little selves.
