Mini vacation
I was so sick yesterday that I booked an urgent care appointment and hightailed it to the medical center. Just as I predicted: a cold. But because my immune system is so challenged I was prescribed an antibiotic which worked wonders. I felt so much better this morning -- after 30 minutes of a hacking cough -- that Steve and I set out to San Francisco as we had planned several days ago.
I had a taste for clam chowder on the wharf so that's what we did. We acted like tourists, dropping in to shops, picking up and putting down, taking photographs all along the way.
Four hours later we were home. That's all it took, a four-hour mini break from animals, illness, childcare and everything else that is a normal day. Our daughter never even knew we were gone -- the wonder of cell phones! -- and we acted like escaped prisoners set loose in a world class city, which San Francisco is, even if we only enjoyed one tiny touristy part of it.
Now we're planning lots of future mini breaks, it's all so doable.
What a delightful day you two must have had... hope you're feeling much better now.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how such a short "vacation" helps??? We do that too, I'm SO glad you felt better and were able to go!
ReplyDeleteYou need and deserve the breaks. Glad you had fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for checking in. Yes, Steve and I definitely need more days like that one!
