On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Slow day in Slonoma

Some days are just so low energy! Skies were cloudy most of today with sunshine peering in. The dogs slept more than usual. The chickens were resting several times when I checked on them. Steve took a nap. What was it with today?

Teenagers in Sonoma refer to the town as "Slownoma," a term that often surfaces in the local newspaper. I personally find the community bustling -- tourists pour onto the Plaza from all over the world and the park is always full of picnickers and others. There are historic sites, wineries, two farmers' markets and lots of little shops. People get out and about. Still and all, today was slow in my personal little corner.

I did my best, but it wasn't my most productive day either. And I certainly wasn't up to a major art project. So I drew little cartoons at every break and called it a page. And that, my friends, was fun!

  1. It is an absolutely fun page to look at!

  2. And it was fun to do! Thank you for all your looking and comments.

  3. What a cute journal page! Nice to see you on the treadmill, and moving the little chicks.

  4. I hope you'll join me in a challenge started by Suzanne McDermott and do a sketch of the Gulf of Mexico.

  5. Thank you, Lynn and Elaine.

Elaine -- I check the site. Thanks for the heads up.
