On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

What did you eat today?

I went to my favorite bakery today and chose.... an egg salad sandwich!

This particular bakery is known for fantastic Princess cakes - pink or green - and the case was full of Napoleons, bars and cookies, huge and regular sized.

I paused and decided I was actually hungry for lunch, not a treat. And then I sat for a long time and drew my feast.

  1. I haven't been to your blog in a while (craziness of the spring semester hasn't left much blog-jumping time), and it's fun to see all your food sketches. Sometimes nothing hits the spot like an egg salad sandwich....

  2. I imagine it did take a long time seeing as you drew the decoration all around the plate! The sandwich and olive look really great.

  3. Thank you Rebecca and Timaree -- Well, sitting and drawing a sandwich makes it last a lot longer!
