On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Mooooooo

I swear I don't know what gets in to me some days, I really don't. I woke up this morning with a notion to draw cows. I have had almost no experience around cows and have never tried to draw one. Why would I if they aren't really in my world?

While I was looking around for something to draw this morning, sitting with a cluster of boys at Juvenile Hall, I noticed one of their books, How to Draw 50 Animals. The first page was a cow! I used the lesson to decorate another page in my 2010 Moleskine planner. I've just about finished all the spreads for January.

This evening I tried to put cows in context using photos I took in September when Youngest Daughter and I went on a camping trip on the Russian River. There were cows on the property.

I snapped several pictures to use as photo references in case the need ever arose. Who would have thunk it, the need arose today!
