On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Where's Al Gore when I need him?

It's only an invasive wildflower, some would say a weed, but the wild calendula that I typically first notice at the end of January or early February has been blooming profusely for almost a month. I find that alarming. I don't know if it's related to global warming or the rain from last month or both or neither. I only know that it's different this year, and I'm concerned. If Al Gore were sitting in my living room this minute, I'd ask him.
