On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Thanksgiving eve

I was saddened to open the morning newspaper and read about a major incident of local gang activity. Actually it happened about 25 miles from here, but since I work at Juvenile Hall I probably know some of the miscreants and it feels very close.

Steve spent the day baking several pumpkin pies, bread and making final preparations for tomorrow's big cook! He puts on a sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner and I can taste it already!

  1. Great page Barbara. (It was easier to come throug EDM than wade through flickr which I still need to do to see all the class stuff). I think you are doing a fantastic job of integrating. You sure this isn't a natural for you?
