On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Nana for the day

Today was one of the happiest days of my life and I know I'm fortunate to be able to say that.

My ten-year-old grandson was staying over for two nights so we had various activities to catch up with. Yesterday Steve and Youngest Daughter and Grandson baked and decorated a gingerbread house. I could hear them chatting and laughing as they worked, obviously having a wonderful time.

Today Grandson and I had the entire day and house to ourselves. I taught him how to bind a simple accordion sketchbook and then added a small sample of the fabric onto my own journal page.

Later I introduced him to POSTCROSSING.COM and helped him send out his first three postcards - to Japan, Germany and Finland. He seemed enchanted with this option to receive real snail mail with his own name above the address.

Being Internet savvy, as all ten year olds are these days, he caught on quickly how to navigate the site and was clearly hopeful that his collection will soon begin to grow.
