On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Christmas sketchbook

I have had only the teensiest experience binding sketchbooks but so many of my online artist friends make their own that I've become intrigued.

The one I made this evening is just about as basic as it gets and can be put together in less than an hour. There are several accordion pages, a Christmas fabric print and ribbons to tie on the edge. My intention is to make it a dedicated book documenting Christmas activities and preparations. There are boo-boos, but they're minor and I'll attend to them when I make another one. Another one? Yes, I think I'm hooked.

  2. I agree with Scrappy cat, that turned out beautiful!

I just learned how to make these accordion sketchbooks, fun... but how DO you put them in a binder? Just put in one page permanently & have a place to slip in the last page temporarily so you can look at all the other pages or what?

  9. Thank you all for your comments.

Jessica: I'm not sure how to answer your question. I've never put one in a binder. Instead, I just draw on every page and watch them stack up!
