On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Black Friday

My own home is my favorite place on earth so there's no enticement for me to shop in the mobs on the day after Thanksgiving.

If my home is my favorite place, the weather and companionship was the best possible also. It was sunny/chilly/showery depending on when I looked out the window. Steve, Youngest Daughter and Youngest Grandson were my companions. What more could I want?

I stayed in all day, served leftover turkey and dressing and settled into little organizing projects that make life, oh, so much better. And then I noticed Brix, half asleep on the sofa, and drew him with old fashioned Crayola crayons on a watercolor surface I prepared last week some time.

Christmas preparations? Bring them on, just not in today's crowded stores.

  1. This is a wonderful rendering of your dog. I love the watercolor background - it makes the drawing. You just can't beat Crayolas.

  2. I love this sketch. You got such good lines and feeling out of a crayon. Who says they are just for kids?!!

  3. I like the idea of designing the page with watercolor ahead of time and then using it for a background, nice. Good old Crayolas!
