On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Adding to the work load

One day last week I was chatting with one of the second semester students in my life drawing class. (Our class is mixed with the two levels.) She said her group had the additional assignment of completing 100 figure drawings by December 3rd which works out to one page a day.

Yesterday I asked the instructor if he would give me extra credit if I also completed the assignment. He was delighted and said it would ensure that I would receive an A for the semester! Oh, wow!

In the end we agreed that I would also make 100 drawings. For me, a lowly first semester student in that course, the rules were lightened. I can draw anything, not just figures. I can use any media.

Oh dear, I now have to catch up - 100 drawings in 88 days. But I need the practice and the push of a goal and commitment.
