On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Business is slow, but don't tell Demi

I wandered into my office to do some computer tasks. That signaled, incorrectly, to Demi that a client was about to arrive. So she took her place in her bed and waited to work as a therapy dog.

Clients almost always adore Demi. She sighs at just the right moment, like when they are pouring out tales of woe and it is obviously just all too much. The rest of the time she's a great listener, but if they go on and on, avoiding the work of therapy, Demi quietly falls asleep.

I can't wait for Youngest Daughter to return from her day program this afternoon. As I mentioned earlier, she is a developmentally challenged adult and needs supervised care.

I recently got her involved with Postcrossing
and she loves it, absolutely loves it.

She is diligent about sending out the postcards, which she can do independently, and then she waits patiently for the returns. She has received the first seven cards so far, enough to require a mounted map to pin-point their origins.

Steve ordered this great laminated world map and we mounted it on foam board this morning. I found a YouTube video that demonstrated the process so there would be no bubbles and it turned out perfectly. The filming was harder, I couldn't stop the window light from attacking the center, but you get the idea. The map is now mounted on the wall cleared for that purpose and Steve has agreed to be the map assistant.

And maybe more postcards will come in today's mail.

  1. I just had to comment ... The therapist I have been going to for over a year now has a dog who also joins us during our sessions. :-) Unfortunately, the dog belongs to her daughter who just got married - and thus, Gooda (the dog) will be leaving with her! :-( I know he'll be missed by me and the other patients/clients!!
So to Demi (and you!), keep up the good work!!!! :-)
