On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Splats and splotches

In Juvenile Hall today the art teacher wanted everyone to use the watercolors. Since so many were reluctant and have been avoiding the paint for several weeks, he suggested that they simply wet the paper and drop in color. Then they looked for shapes and let their imaginations extend the color to something new.

I always participate in the assignments even though they are frequently out of my comfort zone. In the end I decided this one was quite fun and I can see myself repeating this sort of page over and over again. (Click to enlarge.)

I like this - could be an illustration from a children's book. Reminded me of the Enid Blyton stories I read as a child!
