On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

More camels

I saw the move, "Catch Me If You Can," several years ago when it was first released to theaters. I watched it on television a couple months ago. But neither viewing was up to the actual book!

The real life saga of Frank Abagnale, super con teen, was the page turner of page turners. I couldn't read it fast enough. I work with teens almost every day -- teens who are on the wrong side of the law and incarcerated. The kids I see just aren't as smart or quick as this guy was. And BTW, I was particularly interested in the comparison of French, Swedish, Italian and American jails. That alone was worth the read.

I was bored last night so I drew a quick Zentangle and almost learned a new "tangle."

At Juvenile Hall this morning the kids were working on random projects so I continued my efforts to capture the camels. The first group of boys was calm and I finished the drawing and the journaling.

The second group was also calm. But just as I was finishing the sketch, a fight broke out on another unit. And before the kids in our group were sent to their rooms, a second fight was announced on a different unit.

A coordinated attack? Possibly. The kids can hear the alarm, they know they will be standing and moving, and they could consider it an opportunity to create havoc. Or not. It could have been a split second coincidence. I'll never know.

I left. The entire facility was locked down. Journaling can happen at home. I can practice more camels there too.

  1. Camels look like they would be difficult. Great job.

  2. Grate camel studies, don't had the opportunity to do that animal yet must be fun!
