On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Mid-week

Today was gray and drizzly, the tail end of several days of rain. I will be surprised if it rains again before November, but would certainly welcome a long series of new storms.

In between sprinkles I set out a few of the tomato plants I started from seed. I poked in a bunch of lettuce seeds in some of the empty spaces because they'll be harvested long before the tomato plants need the extra space.

There are cosmos out there too so I drew one from a reference to give them the idea that they are supposed to grow a little faster!

Yesterday was a chemotherapy day. I was looking around for something to draw, looked down and saw my own foot so I drew that. Then I sketched the infusion pump and was good to go.

This month marks the end of the spring semester. There are classes almost to the very last day but things are winding down. I have enjoyed the beginning drawing class and look forward to a fresh new semester beginning in August.

  2. Hey, did you realize that draw a shoe is EDM challenge #1!?

I'm impressed by your motivation to find subject matter to draw no matter where you happen to be.
