On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Just one more

I'm working more with watercolor pencils now and drew these with my Derwent Inktense set. I had a reference piece to work from and worked very slowly, adding layer after layer.

It's been warm today in northern California but the fog is coming in and it's already cooler. Heather and I took two of the dogs for a brief walk, our evening habit now, and it's helping us both.

Tomorrow I'll be back with boys in Juvenile Hall. Because I missed the Tuesday classes due to chemotherapy, I have no idea what the art instructor has planned... Too be continued!

  3. You drew some great mushrooms and you really did get the intense, saturated color. Very nice. I have to work hard to get those colors as I don't want to mess up the layers I've already done.
