On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

While the wind howls

One of life's little civilities is eating a soft-boiled egg from an egg cup. I never did until I was in my 60's -- you read that right -- it just wasn't part of our local culture and I never learned the etiquette of how to do it.

Okay, life changes. On slow weekend mornings I just love a perfect five-minute egg, gently pierced with my egg topper and served with a single slice of wheat toast, still warm and lightly buttered. It takes so little to make me smile!

  1. Ah yes the design I have on a coffee cup and in the bottom of a hand made casserole---bought in Ireland---how I'd love the egg cup and to try what you have---I never have---I guess with a whole houseful of children it never occured to me to sit there and have this wonderfest--now I will look for an egg cup and I will have to fall in love with it ---wonderful feeling drawing.

  2. I have always wondered about egg cups myself. Thanks for a little insight!
