My new friend
A few blocks from home, on his regular perch, my new friend (I've named him Buster) was watching over the street. He was probably checking to see if I was going to my drawing class today. (If you click on the photo you can see him better.)
I tried to get closer with my camera but this relationship can only tolerate so much. He flew away.
Ten miles away, in Napa Country, I spotted one of his cousins. He's often there too, sometimes with siblings. This one was even more freaked by seeing me and flew off.
If I ever splurge on a new camera I'm going to pay the bucks for a much stronger zoom lens.
I drew the still life assigned in class and then looked around for something else to do. Jennifer, a young student who sits next to me, was bent over her work. She's a wonderful young artist and as sweet as can be.
So I drew her. She was working so intently on her own project that she never noticed what I was doing (although later I showed her). Adding people to my sketchbook is a new piece for me. I chose Jennifer because her hair covered her face so I could get the basic story line, so to speak, without having to fuss with features.
Great job on Jennifer's hair!
