On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Crisp and cool

Northern California is in the midst of the most gorgeous weather this week. Kids are outside riding their bikes and playing, sounds I haven't heard for a while, and yards are bright green (except for folks like us who got rid of grass because of the drought).

I took today's inspiration from the morning newspaper so I can get the practice I need drawing people and buildings. I could probably muster a couple sketches out in the world if I had to but I'm afraid to even try.

Zentangling is becoming more and more fun for me. I'm not the most creative person so it's a real nudge to my imagination to come up with the "tangles" to complete the square.

  1. I like the girl on the bike. It was a wonderful biking weather where I live today as well.

The person on the bicycle is great - you have really captured the pose. Glad you are having some good weather. I hope it will be our turn soon - tho' there is a little improvement in the last couple of days.
