On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Improvement and a plug

Today was the sixth consecutive day of record high temperatures for January here in northern California. Finally the forecasters are talking about rain, but not until next Wednesday. Officials are talking about involuntary water rationing....

I was so distraught about yesterday's rock drawing disaster that I decided to try again today. I had help from another blogger (John at http://john-alookin.blogspot.com) and I worked slower and longer with a much lighter touch. Definite improvement, don't you agree?

Very nice. Thank you for sharing the lessons to be learned in comparing your first and second visions of the pebbles.

You're right, that is an improvement - well done! I like how you've made it lighter and more subtle, and the shading is more even. You've also made slightly darker lines against the pebble I think? Especially on the stacked ones, and it works very well. I always find the trouble with shadows is getting the tone nice and even.
