On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Flying high

To get ourselves through the long wait on Tuesday before the polls closed, three of us whiled away the afternoon with our watercolors and pens.  I seem to have extreme problems with proportion, but my American Goldfinch -- what I see in our back yard -- was wide-eyed with anticipation.

  1. Love Birds. Have you ever seen the magazine Birds & Blooms? BEAUTIFUL photography of all sorts of flowers, birds and butterflies. Great job! First time I ever remember seeing one in real life is when one was eating the Cosmos seeds out of my garden when I lived in Tennessee.

I like your American Goldfinch, he seems to be very happy on his little perch there in life.

I have seen Birds & Blooms! I should subscribe so I can find new models. Thank you both for checking in.

  4. This is really good, Barbara! I like the way you cropped it a bit, too.

  5. Seems like his leg is behind the rope instead of on it .. but I do like how you handled the color (I notice this especially because I'm terrible with color) ... do you take your own photos? work from real life? :-)
