On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The silly season

I joined a new Flickr site, Prepaid Envelope Art, where the idea is to integrate the printing and postal markings with the image. There are some great examples already posted and I'm trying to get the hang of it. I mean, cleverness and drawing are my two weakest skills. But it was fun to try.

Later I worked on my drawing skills where faces are something I've barely begun learning to draw.

We took Demi to a veterinary center this morning, a place where there are umpteen specialists. I think we've agreed on a treatment plan, at least for now, and I'm looking into one medication that we may begin sooner rather than later, not sure about that one yet. I have more understanding about what is going on -- it isn't just that Demi is in the early stages of chronic renal failure, it's that she was born with a congenital structural defect that is just now surfacing. So we'll do what we can to help her maintain function for as long as possible.
