On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The most beautiful day

My favorite homespun dog command, used especially for Brix, is CHILL! It usually catches his attention and he backs off whatever ruckus he's creating.

It's a great command for me too. I had a block of time today so I settled myself on the back deck and drew geraniums. The temperature was perfect, something in the 70s, there was a gentle breeze and the dogs were wandering in and out but quietly pursuing their little wants. More days like this, please!

We're taking Demi to the vet tomorrow morning and hope to come home with.... hope. I would like some sort of treatment plan that will offer her more good years, something to extend her days on earth. I've been living with a poor prognosis for over six years, it's that sort of thing I want for my dog. The poor prognosis is a given for us both, but can she, like me, be on the far right tail end of the bell-shaped curve? That's my goal for tomorrow.

  1. Oh, I do hope so. You both could use the hope of it.

Your geraniums turned out very, very nice. I love geraniums. My dad always had lots of them planted in the yard.

  2. I am hoping all goes well.

The geraniums are very lovely. Still too early for annuals here. Wish I was sitting on that deck too!

  3. Thoughtful entry and evocative geraniums. Hope you're where you want to be on that bell curve. Is "remission" still the right word for you? Theoretically I'm cancer free, but the meds' side effects (and my weight) don't help, and I try not to think about recurrence... or "what else?"
