On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Like an eight-year-old

Another thing that I want to learn is how to make quick gesture drawings from a moving car (when I'm a passenger).

So I had an opportunity to practice today when Steve was driving and we were cruising up Rte. 101. We passed a lot of cyprus and something else and something else (I don't know many tree names) and various sized mountains and lots of wildflowers. Less than two hours north of us and they have an entire different range of wildflowers, go figure. Okay, I need more practice...

  1. I haven't even tried on-the-move gesture drawing. I haven't really done much of it even when still! So you are ahead of me because at least you are trying it!

I am currently working in a child's poetry book. When we didn't get the basics as a child it's sometimes nice to go back to that level before moving to the adult level.

  2. I like your sketch. The colors are good and your the feeling of distance in the sketch is good. I love the 3 trees in the center. The color is great and they look just like many of the ones I see when I am on the road. You amaze me with all the things that you attempt with such an open heart and fearless determination.
