ONE HAPPY FOOL

On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Furry box turtle

I shifted from doors to box turtles but maybe I should shift back again! This box turtle is looking up like a bird with soft fur.... or maybe one who lost the battle.

There was a weak sun most of today, enough to shock us all. A new storm is forecasted for tomorrow. I have no plans for Saturday, a blessing in itself. It means I don't have to set the alarm, I can stay in my jammies for as long as I choose, and I can do a lot of nothing and enjoy every moment of it. Don't you just weekends like that?

    Barbara,
    Reptiles have scales and scales are generally hard and can be somewhat shiny when the light hits them. So you'd want to create a texture like that. I'm not sure you can add it at this point, other than lightly indicating the scales and the slight shadow where the scales intersect/overlap. Kate Johnson's book Drawing and Painting from Nature has a drawing of a box turtle in it that might be helpful. If you don't have it you might try getting it from the library.
