On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The phone never rang

Late last night I noticed that none of our landline phones were working so I called for repair service. All day today I stayed home, tired and not feeling my best, and unable to get warm. The phone never rang, there was seldom a passing car and little else in the way of sound, the quietest of Saturdays.

So I finished the novel I was reading, GOODBYE TO THE BUTTERMILK SKY by Julia Oliver. This is a fast read, tensely suspenseful, the kind you can't set down until the outcome is clear.
For my drawing this evening I chose a serving bowl that we only use a couple times a year. It doesn't look quite like this, but it's recognizeable. I was particularly focusing on the form shadow where so much color was carried.

I feel better and now the phones are working... Dang!
