On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

My first frontispiece

One of the delights of travel is that you get to make a travel journal to remind you of where you've been -- like photos but much more lively (my humble opinion). I've never been able to do this before because I've never known how to depict anything and have always been dependent on words and camera. But this year.......I've gotten as far as a frontispiece of the Holland-American ship, the Zuiderdam. It's far more majestic in person, it's gorgeous!

  1. As an appreciator of cruise ships (never been on one myself!), this drawing really appeals to me. It looks like the boat was made from cut crystal. I agree about journal drawing one's trip for the old memory banks...much richer.
Hope you had a nice trip.

I agree that sketches have so much more life in them than photos. This i8s a great rendering of a cruise ship, although I've never been on one. Wonderful, wonderful.
