On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Hamish, watered down

I painted Hamish, the Scottish "coo" again, this time in watercolor. I find him very difficult to draw.

  2. First, CONGRATULATIONS on the remission of Stage "X" breast cancer. I'm still in the 5-years-taking-annoying-preventative meds stage of DCIS breast cancer and understand how liberating it is to be "better." And I love Hamish. Amazing how things that we think we know will NOT allow themselves to be captured on paper. I "practice" sometimes from photos -- they're easier to translate!! Best to you via EDM.

This is a great characterization. Animals are hard! I don't do many and when I have to, I know it's going to be a challenge. Just keep doing him over and over and you will surprise yourself. And you'll even have a progression to look back at some day. Great work!
