On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Dog park dogs

When I was a young woman in my 20s I used to sit on a park bench with the other mommies while we watched our kids play. Occasionally one of us would get up and push all the swings for a few minutes and then the kids would scamper to the slide again or sit with their buckets and shovels and scoop up the sand. Apparently I remembered to bring my camera at least a few times because I have the photos to prove it.

Now I'm a much older woman in my 60s and it appears that life has not changed all that much. Now I sit in a molded plastic chair with all the other dog owners and we watch our pups at play in the dog park. Occasionally one of us gets up to separate two or three who get into it a little too wildly or maybe to shoo off someone who's mounting someone else. And then we continue the conversation. Apparently I remembered to bring my sketchbook at least a few times because I have the drawings to prove it.

  1. Very Cute! I especially like the way Annie is trying to escape her box.

  2. Ahh I love these doggies! And dogs are hard to draw because they move around so much :)

These are great little sketches! Each one has it's own facial expression.
