On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Sunday afternoon in the park

We spent a lovely afternoon at Spreckels Lake, a part of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. No problem with parking, the weather was ideal, a comfortable number of people around. We brought a picnic lunch with us -- in this case "us" was three humans and three dogs.

There were ducks and seagulls.

There was also an official race of model yachts. Six or seven men, sometimes grousing at each other like a scene out of "Grumpy Old Men," raced their models up and down and all over the little lake.

My favorite part was watching the turtles bask in the sun. How do you get a turtle to bask on the statue you built for it???
