On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The blossoms of July

All our flowers are grown in containers. The soil is too full of clay so container gardening is much easier. I wandered around the back yard and deck this afternoon drawing a few of the many blossoms that are flourishing in July. I covered a page in my new watercolor Moleskin sketchbook and drew with watercolor pencils, graphite and pen. (Click on the picture for more detail.)

  2. Grids are great, aren't they for doing sets of things. I like your mileage and weight loss graph. I could have done them with them for my sketchercize blog - daily walk and exercise for a year. I did achieve those goals - well worth it. Visit http://fivekradius.blogspot.com if you like and haven't already.

  5. I'm one of the ones who does the garden grids. It's a great way to do it, and yours are lovely. It's fun and it really looks like you enjoyed doing it.

Beautiful drawings. Great color and composition. I like the grids, too, although I have yet to try one.
