On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

A sleeping dog is a good dog

Contrary to popular opinion, you never want to let a sleeping dog lie -- DRAW it! This is my Beulie, six months old, in training to become a possible assistance dog with Canine Companions for Independence. Every afternoon she plops on the floor and falls asleep. YES, Good Girl!

  1. Yes! Aren't we glad they sleep so much! My cat seems a twitchier napper---it's hard to get her on paper before she moves in a major way.
Wonderful sketches, Barbara--congratulations on having such a fine creature!

  6. These are really good. Your line quality is very sensitive and communicates a nice edge. Pets are the nicest models. They hold still and don't mind it when you post your sketches of them on your blog, unlike human family members. Keep up the good work.
