On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Oh, those girls!

I regularly spend time with some girls at Juvenile Hall. I try to bring in activities that will interest them and provoke discussions on matters of significance. This week, inspired by some pages in Keri Smith's little book of creative ideas, LIVING OUT LOUD, I brought in some paper doll blanks and an assortment of papers so the girls could dress their characters. I also asked them some questions: Do you like this girl? What is she like? What do you have in common with her? Etc., etc.

Look at the difference between my idea and theirs.....I won't even have to tell you which ones are theirs.....
