On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Every day matters

If you guessed that it's a flashlight, you're right! I recently joined a great web site designed to help us wannabes learn how to draw/paint/whatever. It's everydaymatters@yahoo.com in case you're interested too. Each week there is an optional challenge which I hope to participate in regularly. This week was "Draw a flashlight." So I did! I used a kid's $2.00 set of pan paints, didn't do any mixing but attempted lots of layering. It was hard focused work for me, a real beginner. The good news is that TOMORROW I get to begin a brand new art class that's FREE to seniors (in this case, anyone over only 50!). The focus will be on watercolor -- can you imagine all I'm going to learn this summer? I am so excited.
