On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Oh, no!!!!!

It's 11:50 p.m. and we just got home from the emergency department (that's what they call the ER these days). What happened? I don't know. It was about 7:00.  I was standing in the hallway, chatting at the doorway of Youngest Daughter's room.

I remember my scream on the way down and it was all over - I was straight out flat on my belly. Next:  ambulance to Santa Rosa. x-rays. broken left humerus almost at the shoulder. a support sling. home just before midnight. another six weeks of anticipated pain and healing.  Nurse Steve will be with me 24/7 (he can have Starbucks breaks and run errands, but that's about it for him).

Will it ever end? A scary thought to add to all my other scary thoughts.....
