On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Peering ahead

I haven't drawn a giraffe in at least a month, what gives?  I was with the boys at Juvenile Hall this afternoon and opted for crayons, just three Crayola crayons - black, brown and yellow - which totally surprised them because they somehow learned that only fancy supplies generate nice pieces.

What's mostly on my mind is the beginning of radiation therapy on Wednesday.  I hope I don't get too tired, my biggest concern.  Some say the recovery period afterwards can actually be worse. I'm already tired, that's the problem.

  2. I hope your therapy goes well and that you aren't too tired to enjoy your down time. Also it's wonderful that you found pleasure with crayons, the smell of them is intoxicating.
