On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Verbal crisis

While Jean and Lionel were having a mini row in As Time Goes By I finished the mandala I began last week.  This was the second mandala of my life - the previous one was a few years back and not as developed.  Now that I've got the hang of it I hope to go forward.

Youngest Grandson and I are off to Farmers' Market in a few minutes.  I'm having an editorial crisis over the spelling.  After complaining to Steve that no one seems to understand how to use apostrophes I'm finding that this one has me flummoxed.  In print I've seen Farmers Market, Farmer's Market and Farmers' Market.  I have always chosen the latter because I figured it was the market of the farmers, their market, and there are many vendors so it has to be plural.  So I thought it through, but newspaper reporters and their editors are also thinking it through and coming to different conclusions.

I can't stand confusion like this.  It makes me feel like a border collie stuck in a car and unable to herd the traffic.

  1. I can't resist jumping in on this one! I vote for farmer's market. As I see it, farmers each set up their own stall in the market. They don't use middle men as is done in Safeway or Ralph's. It's their market, singly and collectively. It is each farmer's market and it is all the farmers' market so I guess it could go with either of these. It could also I guess go with farmers market as in "the people go to the farmers market rather than the incorporated market (Safeway again). Hmmm, I guess they all work depending on how it is meant. Have I messed you up more or cleared it up, lol?

  4. So pretty. I find mandalas so relaxing, almost like a meditation.
