On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Back in the saddle, so to speak

I took Parisse to the vet this morning only to learn that she needs to have a mass removed from her gum line to rule out a possible melanoma.  Oh dear, it wasn't what I wanted to hear.  Surgery on Tuesday, maybe.

After lunch it seemed like a good day to chill in Maxwell Park, just a few blocks from home.  As a park monitor I committed, three years ago, to spending time there each week - and was managing well until last August when everything fell apart and I stopped going.

Hopefully I'll be there regularly now.  It's a small area, only 86 acres and takes about 30 minutes to walk the trails and take photos of gang tagging, possible hazards and to count the visitors and perhaps pick up litter, if there is any.  I have a particular love for public spaces.
