On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Nerd #4 - International Fake Journal Month

Painting a simple rock
This was one of those really wonderful days.  Steve and Youngest Daughter were away most of the day so I had only the dogs and myself to please.  You know, the kind of day where you hang out in your jammies and spend forever reading the newspaper and solving the entire crossword puzzle and finishing the sudoku puzzle as well.

When I got around to checking my email messages there was one from my oncologist.  He was writing to let me know that my tumor marker dropped 16 points.  YES!  That makes last month's chemotherapy cycle worth it - and now I only have one more to go that might help me reach normal range (or thereabouts) which would be doubly awesome.  I am wildly encouraged and thanked him for thinking to let me know. (I hadn't asked.)

That's proof, I'm not dead yet!

  1. That sounds great! Just when you felt like giving up the most too! What good news.
