On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The daily mail

Is there anyone as jubilant as a twelve year old boy who is happy with himself?  Today's mail brought a thank you postcard from Youngest Grandchild who apparently had a good time here.  The P.S. refers to what became a standing joke between us - every time he called his mom she asked if he was homesick.  No!  But it became an amusing topic of dinnertime conversation for us all.

My favorite website is this one:  Stork Cam  That's where I watch the Hungarian storks who are now preparing their nest for the new eggs. The camera is live and streaming so, even when the storks are sleeping you'll see an occasional twitch or shift.  It depends on your time zone when is the best time to watch.  For us in northern California morning and evenings here work out well to watch there.

I've been following these birds for about four years and they never fail to catch my interest.  I have even watched the woman in the background who can occasionally be seen planting and weeding her enormous vegetable garden.  Sometimes there are kids on the way to school and workers hurrying to get to their jobs on time.

It used to be, in urban areas, there was always one old lady seen day after day sitting by the window and watching the street scene below.  Now we do it online.

Oh my, I'm turning into a lurker!

  3. Hi Rebecca and Timaree -- The visit did go well and he is a sweetheart! He wants to be a pilot when he grows up, a goal he's held for years. Now that his mom is working full time I expect to see him much, much more. He lives about 90 minutes away but we have a meeting place about half-way.
