On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Just one of those days

Today's my nadir day.  In chemo speak, because Taxotere does weird things to bone marrow, I get a series of blood tests on the eighth day of each 21-day chemotherapy cycle.  That would be today.

The results showed - I'm anemic (new), my white blood cell count is the lowest it's ever been and basically I have a very limited immune system.  Well, Belle the cat was having a seizure so I picked her up.  She accidently scratched me and drew blood.  I'm doomed!

Aside from that, it was a good day.  I had very few have-tos and kind of pottered through the day at my own, slow pace.  I also saw four red-shouldered hawks and a kestrel. How cool is that!
