On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Nighttime

Walking the dogs in the evening is especially fun.  Things are calmer then with only the occasional bicycler or fellow dog walker.  Nothing feels rushed and we plod along on one of our familiar routes and know that we'll get wherever we're going when we get there.  It's all part of the wind down into night.

I stand on the front steps and take the leash and collar off of Demi.  "Go home," I say, and she rushes through the door.  Brix is less predictable, he gets indoors first and then the leash is removed.  Five minutes later they are both asleep, weary from our walk even if it only lasted 20 minutes.

A tired dog is a good dog.  That's what we were taught in puppy training classes.
