On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Holiday weekend

Local temperatures almost reached 100º this afternoon and we all hunkered down in the air conditioning.  I spent the day reading, only using the muscles necessary to turn the pages. There will be fireworks tomorrow evening but other communities are canceling because of fire danger.

Sonoma, California celebrates the Fourth of July the best.  The morning parade is almost two hours long - not bad for a populations of less than 10,000.  The Plaza, one square block of park that used to be where General Vallejo drilled his troops in the 1830s, will be bustling all day with food kiosks supporting non-profit agencies.  And then we'll relocate to Vallejo's property to watch the fireworks.

By 9:00 on Tuesday morning everything will be totally picked up and back to normal.  This town is organized!
