Have sketchbook, will crawl
I did it, I finally made it to my first sketch crawl and loved every moment. There were 13 of us, in Davis, and we were organized by Pete Scully who routed us to the UC Davis Arboretum where I had never been.
It was a wonderful experience. There were trees and plants from around the world, each labeled for folks like me who don't have a large horticultural vocabulary. And there were ducks, dog walkers (Demi loved that part) and genial company while we drew. So it's official, I'm hooked, and hope to participate in other sketch crawls whenever I can get them scheduled. Ready, set, draw!

Good job! Lucky you, I wish I lived close enough to go to that one! They are such an active, lively group!
ReplyDeleteVery nice drawing of the trees. That is so cool! I can't find a sketchcrawl in Miami - Bummer.
ReplyDeleteYes, Raena - and it was a great introduction to the art of the sketch crawl!
ReplyDeleteDan -- Start one! (It's easy - got to sketchcrawl.com and post your interest. Or start publicizing it. With that much population it should be quick and then word of mouth takes over. Tell art classes.... Last month, in bad weather, there were only 4 in Davis (so I heard). Yesterday there were 13... word of mouth..)
Sounds wonderful. I hope to get to Balboa Park while I'm here in southern California but it all depends on what other family members have time for. I love your painting.
ReplyDeleteThank you again. It was downhill from there!!!
