On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Hard time had by all

Our county library system is planning to close on Mondays, beginning in August. We already have no Sunday service and few evening hours.

Our local branch will be particularly hard hit because it is scheduled for earthquake retrofitting and remodeling at the end of the summer. There's been a search for a temporary site but, so far, none has been found.

For me personally, it probably means it will be the end of the Read-to-a-Dog program that Demi and I began in April 2009. I'm watching and waiting to see how it all develops. Demi has quite a little following of kids who read to her regularly. Others have graduated out of the program - Demi doesn't discriminate by age (or anything else), but sometimes kids feel awkward as they get older and age themselves out.

But today is Monday, the library is open and we will be there!

  1. I love these last two pieces, the pansies and these doodles. You've got some color going on that is vibrant and beautiful. I saw the headline in the PD about the libraries. What a shame!

  2. These are so nice! I've seen most zentangles are black and white, but I am liking those with colors a lot more now ^^
