Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I continue to worry about the nuclear situation in Japan. It's overwhelming to consider what it all means in terms of human misery today and the future of the environment, including the humans living in that polluted situation with threats to the food supply as well. This is absolutely awful!
I keep trying to maintain normalcy here, as is everyone else. Steve is preparing a traditional corned beef, cabbage and Irish soda bread dinner for us this evening in honor of St. Patrick's Day. The house smells absolutely delightful! He's Irish by ancestry and he loves to cook so this is one of his favorite days - complete with decorated shamrock cookies.
Today was the annual meeting for our disabled daughter's care program. She's shown some gains during the past year, always a welcome sign, and new goals were set for the next twelve months.
A major storm is headed our way with up to two inches of rain and cold Alaskan air. This is my favorite kind of weather so I keep peeking at the sky to see if anything is happening. Nothing is expected until 1:00 a.m., but I continue to check often, with hope.
We're having corned beef and cabbage too but I am the cook here. I was going to make soda bread but used up some pineapple in an upside down cake and I just can't eat it all!
ReplyDeleteYou are worried about radiation? My son works at San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant now. Actually I worry more that he'll be bitten by a shark surfing.
The situation is so bad over there. Hopefully the winds won't shift enough to hit Tokyo. That could be really bad. I keep my eye on the news more than I have for a while, that's for sure.
I think the cold Alaskan air stayed up here! We've got new snow today. I hope you get some of it though if you like it. I'll be happy to send it your way.
ReplyDeleteIt's raining this weekend. Not only is it my favorite weather, but I have this hope that it's clearing out the radiation traces. Don't know about that part.
