On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

The week begins on Tuesday

The birds - house finches, mostly - are incredibly active today.  I've been sitting in a south-facing room while several have been darting around  eating sunflower seeds from the window feeder. Some are bossy, some are babies, some are just plain fat! And some are too large to be finches, but I'm a beginner at bird names so I have to just keep watching.

The sun hasn't shone all day. There's been no rain, just bleak gray skies with a chill. I stayed in (it's a three-day holiday weekend and I wasn't working)   and cleaned up some out-of-control spots where paperwork tends to accumulate so I'm going into the next week feeling more organized.

Maybe that's what the finches are doing, packing it in for the week ahead, the one where much colder weather and more rain is predicted.

  1. nice alpaca sketch - I used to bird in my teens, but didn't have all the proper books to look them up. I plan to take it up again when I retire - it will force me to get out and get into nature in case I'm lazy!
