Small favors, big gratitude
We all had a good laugh in class today at those, like me, who couldn't, could not, figure out how to watercolor a still life. I actually liked the under drawing, but the painting, well, let's just say I need more practice.....
Today, except for that dastardly class, was really the fourth day of the long weekend. Tomorrow morning I'm working early and am heavily scheduled all day. I might be able to squeeze in some quick sketching with the art boys in Juvenile Hall, but I don't have to worry about painting another still life so soon - there simply won't be time. (Thank heavens!)

I love the pot; it's the flowers that are weak. If you went back in now it's dry and added some darker shading to some areas of the petals, stems and centers of the flowers you'd be a lot happier with your still life.
ReplyDeleteWhat I do when I don't like a painting (if it's not in my journal already) is cut out the parts I do like and glue them on a mixed-media background in my journal. Then I feel like I've turned it into a success.
In December our watercolor class cuts out the good parts to make Christmas cards to exchange at our class party.
