On 01.02.02, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Too late for surgery, I had chemotherapy, which failed. In May the chemotherapy was changed and I was soon in remission which was celebrated and welcome and lasted nine years - until October 2011. There was progression in 2011 so more treatment was indicated and I am now back in partial remission. But I'm not only a cancer patient - I also enjoy my family, walk my dogs and am learning to draw and paint. Life is good!

Happy New Year!

More rain began last night while we were enjoying time with friends to welcome in the new year. There have been showers off and on all day making this the gloomiest New Year's Day I can remember.

It's chilly, it's quiet, the community is huddled by its fire places or wherever it is that the community members find to huddle. Steve reports that Starbucks was bustling yesterday morning, desolate today.

No problem. I walked the dogs in between showers and Steve is grilling pork chops and cooking up a pot of Hoppin' John for good luck in 2011 -- the good luck part I pass along to each of you!
